The Scottish Parliament

We are proud to be associated with the recently completed Scottish Parliament Building at Holyrood in Edinburgh, with Tradewoods supplying in excess of 6000mē of bespoke manufactured hardwood flooring to complete the finishing of the installation.

Working on the project for over two years alongside the Holyrood architects and design teams, Tradewoods developed a new specification of factory lacquered solid French oak flooring specifically to fulfill the Holyrood brief and to compliment the aesthetics of the Parliament project.

Opened in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen on the 9th of October 2004, the Scottish Parliament is now in full flow, and the Holyrood flooring supplied has been expanded into a prestigious collection of factory finished solid French oak floorings now available for use in your own project; Tradewoods Parliament Range

Royal Birkdale

This prestigious project is an underfloor heating installation in a brand new property overlooking the Royal Birkdale Golf Course.

Around 250mē of Tradewoods Super 6 Rustic unfinished boards were bonded down over the underfloor heating system, with the boards being finished off with two coats of Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear.

The floor is maintained by suction hoovering the areas to remove any dust or grit and then cleaning off using a 'dry-mop' with a small amount of Treatex Floorcare diluted in a small amount of tepid water.

Canary Wharf

Tradewoods were involved in the development at Canary Wharf for almost 2 years before the project commenced. Liaising with the designers and firming up final specifications with the architectural team, Tradewoods assisted in drawing up a tight specification for Ekowood Classic Walnut 3-Strip to be laid over a heated subfloor.

Several alternatives were examined before the final choice of hardwood floor covering was made, but it was decided that Ekowood Classic Walnut 3-Strip gave the appartments a classic feel whilst complimenting the comtemporary and moderm build.

Over 2500mē of flooring was installed in total, with the whole project being completed two weeks ahead of schedule.

Nutlea House

Nutlea is a prestigious country house situated in Devon which has recenly undergone a full refurbishment by one of the directors of Nu-Heat underfloor heating.

Needless to say as part of the refurbishment a state of the art piped water underfloor heating system was installed and Tradewoods Super 6 Prime Oak was selected as the appropriate hardwood floorcovering for this substantial property.

As can be seen from the photographs, the flooring was laid directly over the heating system. To finish the Tradewoods Super 6 Prime Oak boards they were given two coats of Treatex Hardwax Oil to bring out the grain and character of the wood. As you can see for yourself, the results are just superb.

The Hedca Centre

The Hedca Centre in Hampshire was refurbished in the Summer of 2007 using Tradewoods 150mm wide rustic Solid French Oak strip which was bonded directly down to the concrete screed using Silovil L34 adhesive at a rate of 1.2kg per mē.

As this solid oak flooring is pre-filled and factory sanded, once installed it was immediately ready to receive its first coat of lacquer.

In all three coats of lacquer were used to protect the Solid French Oak flooring and keep it looking in tip-top condition for as long as possible.

Tradewoods rustic Solid French Oak is 21mm thick and available in 130mm, 150mm and 180mm board widths.

Welsh Hall

Welsh Hall, which dates back to the 16th Century has been extensively renovated and restored to its former glory. An imposing propery, this Elizabethan Hall was owned by the same family for over 400 years.

1000mē of Tradewoods Contract 1-Strip Rustic Oak factory-oiled engineered hardwood flooring has been installed over a piped water underfloor heating system as part of the restoration. And installation was relatively quick and easy as these factory oiled boards once installed required no further finishing.

This factory-oiled flooring is maintained by suction hoovering the floor to remove any dust or grit and then cleaning off using a 'dry-mop' with an amount of Treatex Floorcare diluted in a small amount of tepid water. Barrier matting has also been installed at all the entrances to the Hall to minimise ingress of silt or abrasives on to the hardwood floor.
